Admissions

Cambridgeshire Local Authority (LA) is responsible for setting the admissions policy and criteria for this school. Spring Meadow only administers applications for Nursery places.

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS: SEPTEMBER 2020

Applications for Reception year and Year Three can now be made from 12th September 2019, with the closing date of 15th January 2020.

Applications should be made directly to the Cambridgeshire County Council Admissions Team at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/admissions and can be made online or on the paper copy available from the school office. Guidance on the process can be found in the Starting Primary School or Transferring to Junior School leaflets, also available via the admissions link above.

We will be arranging a series of Spring Meadow tours for prospective parents, once our new Reception children have had a chance to settle in, and we will inform you of the dates shortly.

Meanwhile, if you have any queries about admissions please email admin@springmeadow.cambs.sch.uk and Kate will be more than happy to help and advise.

Places will be allocated on the basis of the Published Admission Number (PAN) for the year group and the admissions criteria set by the LA.  In the event of over-subscription, the following criteria will be used to determine priority for places:

  • Children with a Statement of Special Educational Need which names the school (as agreed with the Student Assessment Service);
  • Children with a verified medical need (supported by medical evidence and agreed by the consultant community paediatrician);
  • Children living in the catchment area with a brother or sister in attendance at the school or a partner junior school at the time of admission;
  • Any other children living in the catchment area;
  • Children living outside the catchment area who are unable to gain access to their catchment area school because of over-subscription;
  • Children living outside the catchment are with a brother or sister at the school or at a partner junior school at the time of admission;
  • Any other children seeking a place at the school.

In cases of equal merit, priority will be given to those children who would have furthest to walk by the shortest available safe walking route to the nearest alternative school.

Should you require further information please do not hesitate to contact the school office where we will be happy to assist you.

Nursery funded education is available free from the term after your child’s third birthday.

“At Spring Meadow Nursery we know that these early years form the crucial foundation for learning throughout childhood and beyond. We have a passion for ensuring that our provision is planned and set-up to reflect how young children learn, to include everything that young children enjoy and to contain all the elements of early learning that young children need. Together these will ensure that the foundation is strong and children are then ready for the next stage in their learning journey.”

We offer morning sessions or afternoon sessions only, for the Universal Nursery-Funded 15 hours per week:

  • Morning sessions are: 8.45am – 11.45am
  • Afternoon sessions are: 12.30 – 3.30pm

We may also be able to offer extended provision for children who wish to join the Breakfast Club (for Morning Nursery children) or the ‘Stay and Play’ Afterschool Club for afternoon children. There is a charge for these clubs.

We can accept up to 104 children in our Nursery and parents must apply directly to the school (click here to download our Nursery Application Form). Please see the LA Admissions Policy for the criteria and timetable for applications that we must follow.
